I’m often asked about which artists and labels inspire me most in the world of fashion….. After plunging heart first just 2 years ago it’s still the one and only, Spell & the Gypsy Collective. Some of my first instagram pictures I am decked out in Spell, and I’m still completely wowed by every single new collection they bring out. These beautiful sisters are creating all that they love and bringing amazing wearable art to our world. Not only do they have the most gorgeous and unique designs, but their passion, ethical practices, and personal style are in a league of their own.

So you can all imagine my excitement and absolute honour when we recently added Spell’s new Jewellery to our online store. Seriously a dream come true for me. The range reminds me of all the things I first fell in love with when I discovered Spell – divine turquoise and talismans that ignite a wanderlust for the open road, desert adventures and picturesque sunsets.

I’m so grateful to Spell for all their love and support through my blogging journey, and for creating so many beautiful designs for us all to style and wear. This Kiss the Sky gown is quite possibly the most exquisite dress I’ve ever worn. If you don’t already know what a goddess you are, you will certainly remember when you wear this.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

“You are what you love not what loves you” Charlie Kaufman

I remember when those first few sparks ignited within me as my blogging journey began. It feels like a lifetime ago now, but it was just over 2 years ago. I didn’t know I was going to become a blogger, I was simply inspired to create. And so I did. And I loved it! I had let so many hard ideals go about how I was supposed to live my life. I felt an enormous amount of energy and freedom resurface and it opened up the infinite possibilities of life to me once again. So instead of the usual inner judgments, I followed my heart’s desire, and began on this creative journey that is now GypsyLovinLight. Sometimes when you stop thinking about what you are supposed to do, you realise what you actually want to do. Each day I began following my highest joy and excitement. I took all that I had ever learnt and turned it upside down. I looked to my children for inspiration, for the way forward in being, because children truly know how to live and enjoy every single moment of life to the fullest.

I’m still on this path, learning and evolving each day. I’m learning how to circumnavigate my existence from the inside out. How to lead my life with intention, whilst letting go of results, expectation, fear and judgement. I’m letting go of what others may or may not think of me, knowing for 1. it’s none of my business and 2. what matters is who I am, and what I believe about myself. And this will always be determined solely by me.

When we live connected to our souls, we not only draw people to us, we inspire all those around us to do the same. And it feels amazing! It is so much better than the stress and suffering we are capable of causing ourselves each day.

So let’s raise the collective consciousness and bring even more joy and happiness to our lives and those around us. Love builds love, and we are all LOVE.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Make A Wish

August 5, 2014

That moment when the sun goes to sleep and the moon begins it’s rise…..that seems to linger on and holds that special kind of magic….where all dreams feel possible….those are the moments to count your blessings and make your wishes.

Every time I am lucky enough to witness the sun rise or set, I take a moment to give thanks, and to make a special wish. I figure if I’m lucky enough to be here, witnessing this glory, then I pretty much have all I need, then it’s time to wish for something amazing for all the beautiful souls of this earth. There is something so powerful about a prayer that comes from a place of fullness, of gratitude, of abundance. Next time you are lucky enough to witness nature’s beauty, take a moment to fill yourself with love, and then send that love out to all those who need it most. You will be overflowing with love and others will feel the blessing you have bestowed upon them.

This sunset really was extra special. There was that iridescent light again at the beach. The kind that seems to come right before each full moon. The sand glows and the water flashes it’s vibrant turquoise colour. I made lots of loving wishes on this day. And I’m sure all my beautiful Dogeared charms brought even more good luck vibes to my wishes.

Make a wish, or 2, or 100….take some time for ritual in your life, and share your love and light with the world.  Every little bit of loving helps to heal our world.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Rainbow Chaser

July 26, 2014

In our little family of 4 we are all pretty much obsessed with natural phenomena. Whenever we are driving about, we are always on the hunt for rainbows, full moons, sunsets and glimpses of the ocean. Wherever we are we will stop in our tracks and take a moment’s pause as we all enjoy the beauty. Winter in Perth is pretty amazing. There are so many sun showers and rainbows pop up almost daily. This week alone I’ve seen at least one every day and it always makes me smile. Just yesterday as I was crawling along in freeway traffic I spotted a rainbow streaming through the cars ahead…I was captivated and so happy to be stuck in traffic so I could have the chance to thoroughly enjoy it.

Here are some photos from a few weeks ago from the beach. I managed to salvage these from my iPhone post computer crash. The resolution is not so great, but I wanted to share them nonetheless as it was such a magical day. I was chasing rainbows and dodging sun showers and basically having a whole lot of fun :) It was so warm and mild and I was filled with absolute joy.

Sending some rainbow magic your way and I hope your days are filled with beauty and joy.

Love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Lace Love

June 19, 2014

When it comes to all things lacey Spell really nail it every time! It’s probably obvious already from all my instagram pics and wardrobe that ivory laces are my absolute favourite. This dress, this cut, this lace….utter perfection. Quite possibly my favourite dress in my wardrobe right now. And WA girls if you didn’t already know Lexi & Roy is your one stop shop for all things Spell over here in the west.

I’m loving this dress styled without the nude slip, and belted/cropped over shredded skinnies and a biker jacket to roughen up the look. Add boots and fedora and a summer outfit transforms into winter. And of course a mountain of jewels ;)

Now that winter is finally well and truly here in WA, I’m embracing the spiral inwards as winter draws us into that introspective space. This is one of my favourite times to get really creative with my wardrobe and play with layers. My layering essentials – dusters, loose tees, a cropped bomber, the perfect skinny jeans, and a tailored vegan leather jacket. I tend more towards the neutrals – black, white, beige and grey during this season, with pops of colour thrown in to my accessories. A bright tribal bag, turquoise rings, funky coloured nails and statement necklaces. Fashion and style to me is about having fun. Wear what makes you happy, not what’s on trend. Enjoy the process of expressing your creativity through style.

And here’s a little something for those on a budget but wanting to add some lovely lace into their wardrobe. I’ve hunted and narrowed down some of my favourite lace dresses under $100 –

Hobo + Hatch

A few weeks ago…or maybe even a month now (WOW!) I had the pleasure of visiting the Hobo + Hatch pop up shop down south in the beautiful town Cowaramup, in the Margaret River wine region. The vibe and beauty of this town and shop was so relaxing…I didn’t want to leave! If you get the chance to stop by on your travels it’s a must! So many of my favourite labels like Rue Stiic + Arrow Divine all in the one place. And what a space it is! So perfectly decked out with peacock chairs, divine tapestries, worldly jewels and cow skulls. See pics below!! I was lucky enough to pick up one of their yakadiyak wool/cotton shawls and it’s been keeping me warm and cosy during this sudden seasonal shift right into winter! And not only are they divine, each purchase supports communities in Nepal. “By purchasing from our Yakadiyak range you’ve helped make a small difference in the lives of others. We will continue to donate our time & money to the Nepalese community that touched our hearts & forever changed our soul” – Leona, Hobo + Hatch. Nothing better than wearing conscious clothing. Feels soooo good in so many ways :))))

These photos featuring this beautiful scarf, were taken a couple of weeks ago when summer was still hanging around for one last party :) The golden light in the afternoon seems to intensify during this time of year. The sunsets are so brilliant and deep, just like the autumn leaves. It’s yet another magical time of year with so much beauty to be thankful for.
