My beautiful daughter, Jade, and I were recently blessed to have shared a very special photoshoot together for the divine Kapri Couture. They designed and custom made matching pieces to specifically suit our aesthetic and the mermaid vibes we were after. It was so heart warming to share this journey with my sweet girl, to watch her be pampered in this way, and see her soul alight as she found her own creative expression. She is such a natural beauty, emanating love from deep within her soul. She is my teacher, my angel, and always brings me back to my heart when I need it most. My heart is filled with gratitude for the honour of being her mommy.
This was such a fun family shoot with Bobby (daddy) behind the lens and our dear son, Jacob, our little behind the scenes helper. He was such a sweetheart, taking care of his big sister.
I’m so grateful to Kapri Couture for organising all these pieces for us, so we could share this very special day together. These moments and captures will forever remind us of our bond and unconditional love for one another.
A few weeks ago…or maybe even a month now (WOW!) I had the pleasure of visiting the Hobo + Hatch pop up shop down south in the beautiful town Cowaramup, in the Margaret River wine region. The vibe and beauty of this town and shop was so relaxing…I didn’t want to leave! If you get the chance to stop by on your travels it’s a must! So many of my favourite labels like Rue Stiic + Arrow Divine all in the one place. And what a space it is! So perfectly decked out with peacock chairs, divine tapestries, worldly jewels and cow skulls. See pics below!! I was lucky enough to pick up one of their yakadiyak wool/cotton shawls and it’s been keeping me warm and cosy during this sudden seasonal shift right into winter! And not only are they divine, each purchase supports communities in Nepal. “By purchasing from our Yakadiyak range you’ve helped make a small difference in the lives of others. We will continue to donate our time & money to the Nepalese community that touched our hearts & forever changed our soul” – Leona, Hobo + Hatch. Nothing better than wearing conscious clothing. Feels soooo good in so many ways :))))
These photos featuring this beautiful scarf, were taken a couple of weeks ago when summer was still hanging around for one last party :) The golden light in the afternoon seems to intensify during this time of year. The sunsets are so brilliant and deep, just like the autumn leaves. It’s yet another magical time of year with so much beauty to be thankful for.
A week of gold and turquoise, inspired by sacred geometry, golden aura crystals, and egyptian opulence. Turquoise always has such a strong presence in my life. It’s my healing colour and healing stone. Gold is something I’ve been building in my jewellery collection lately and I’m so inspired by the stacking possibilities. I have so many amazing jewels to style and giveaways coming up. Stay tuned to the frequency of light and love…..so much awesomeness awaits you.
AND a little reminder to all that this Elephant ring pictured below on my middle finger is part of a BLOG giveaway I am running during the month of April. Crochet is something that has always been close to my heart. I grew up watching my extraordinary mother crochet intricate designs for hours on end, as though it was her own form of meditation. As a child I was always in awe of her skill and patience….and nothing has changed there. I was lucky enough to learn this art from her, so I know how challenging it can be. So when I wear handmade crochet designs, I feel that extra bit special, knowing how much time, love and energy went into creating it. Every boho goddess needs a little crochet in her life.
Here I have the honour of sharing a truly gorgeous piece from Sumika. The festival fringe top is the perfect fit and you get a little midriff show without it being too cropped. Wear it as a bikini top, with denim cut offs or your fave maxi skirt and don’t forget the flowers in your hair :) Check out Flower Gypsies for some beautiful designs…they make such a great range of flower crowns.
To this outfit I added my Lyloh sarong. Made from super soft Organic cotton jersey, dyed with indian almond leaves, creating a beautiful eco friendly sarong.
And a little extra something special from the divine Beauty in Numbers. These barefoot ‘Gypsy Feet’ crochet sandals were made by her lovely mother :) How cool is that! Just makes my heart so happy to share such lovely creations with you all :)
My second outfit features a beautiful Jen’s Pirate Booty dress. It’s one of those easy summer boho dresses, super flattering and flowy and oh soooo comfortable. I could style this dress so many ways, though I was in the mood for simple silver jewels and a floppy wide brim hat.
I’m counting my blessings for all these beautiful handmade creations in my life. Each and every day I practice the art of appreciation. It can be for the simplest of things. And especially on those days where I feel completely snowballed and as though my entire universe has collapsed….these are the days I practice even harder. I remind myself that I am alive, that all I have is this moment. And that this moment is filled with an infinite amount of possibilities. I can choose love, joy, freedom, whatever I want. Sometimes I simply have to let go of my focus on the hurt, because it just extends the suffering, and I choose to see the great stuff, the beauty and the blessings, the wonder, the inspirations that surround me wherever I may be. Find them, practice the art of living and loving the moments. Life begins to mirror your internal world and more of the same will be created.
It’s been plentiful love vibes here in the Janneson Bense abode, with V day a couple of weeks ago, and last weekend’s anniversary celebrations. My amazing husband took me on a wine cruise along the swan river to commemorate our 6 divine years of marriage. And it was incredible! The thoughtfulness, the romance, the wine, the food, meeting so many wonderful people, creating new connections, the luxury of cruising along the river in the sunshine, being thoroughly entertained by the hosts and captain of Captain Cook Cruises. They both actually sang us songs on our return trip and they were amazing!
I wanted to wear something really special on this day. My handmade Loveleigh lace dress was absolutely perfect for the occasion. One of a kind, consciously created with love.
I kept my jewels simple and gold with Anna Beck, Torchlight Jewelry and Heather Gardner. While we played at the wineries I wore my Flower Gypsies flower crown, remembering back to the magical flower arrangements at our wedding. As evening set in and we returned to the dock, we strolled along the river, reminiscing on that beautiful moment when we became husband and wife. The sun was setting and it was the perfect end to a perfect date.
Something that came to my attention on this magnificent day was the choice we have to make the most of any experience in life. When we try new things and adventure out of our comfort zone, we can choose to either see everything that is wrong with the situation, or everything that is amazing and awesome. Pretty much goes for a lot of things in life. When we choose to see the blessings and wonder that exists, the opportunities for connection, for fun, and a whole universe of love and joy, open up to us. Our experience is enriched and we are nourished. Like anything it takes practice, though the more we practice gratitude and joy, the richer our life becomes.
Windswept and bathed in light, adorned in flowers and crystals, my inner child free to play. This was a really fun photoshoot. The afternoon wind, or as commonly known here “The Freo Doctor” was in full effect. Rather than resisting it, I utilised the energy to it’s full magnitude. My dreamcatcher became my kite as I danced around the beach, watching the strings of lace flying in the sky. The beach was quiet this afternoon, filled only with a few kindred souls playing….mermaids, kite surfers, skim boarders. It was such an inspiring and playful energy that surrounded me. Highly contagious :)
I had the chance to style some gorgeous local pieces from Princess Poppy Co, a company based here in Fremantle, WA. I love supporting local business and especially when they produce beautiful pieces of art. Also wearing my favourite crystal jewels from Arrow Divine. I had the pleasure of meeting the talented designer behind this label while I was interstate over the holidays. I have followed them on instagram for awhile now and watched each collection grow and expand creatively and I am forever inspired and impressed. Some Arrow Divine is definitely a must have for any jewellery lover.
And this dress! Thanks Free People for such a stunning easy everyday beach dress. Such a flattering fit, super soft rayon, perfect distressing, and a great layering piece. It’s one of those basics that you can style so many ways, that also works perfectly on it’s own. For more of my Free People styling check out my Free People Me page here.
Whatever the weather is, wherever you beautiful beings are, infuse some bright light into your day with crisp whites, clear crystals and sparkling waters. A lake, a river, a stream, the beach or even a pond. Water has many healing qualities and to be near it is to bring you closer to your heart space.
