With festival season heating up I’ve been tuning into the vibe and so has my wardrobe. Here are a few of my favourite festival inspired looks. Hope this post gives you guys some inspiration and gets those creative juices flowing!
“Happiness requires little else than breaking from reaction and turning our attention toward the glory of life, finding a simple moment to reflect on how lucky we are to have this breath, this moment, this very capability to choose” Brendon Burchard
I read this beautiful quote the other day on The Joy Sanctuary, a beautiful space created by a dear kindred sistar of mine. It was just so perfectly timed for me to read it and resonated deeply within me. I hope it finds you all well today and sends loving vibrations to you the way it has for me.
I’m so pleased to share with you all my feature on Happiness + Well Being magazine. A digital magazine dedicated to bringing holistic wisdom, nourishment and love to their readers. The magazine is filled with priceless and practical tools to remind you each and every day of just how amazing and beautiful you are. It has 100 pages filled with loving intentions, devoted to inspiring you to cultivate a life of love.
Here’s a little snipper from my interview with H + W.
H+W: What advice would you have for anyone struggling to love and accept themselves?
Helen: Be easy on yourself. We are all perfectly imperfect and our unique qualities are what make us all so beautiful. Embrace the beauty that you are. Please know you are enough just as you are. You have always been enough. You are more than enough. You can let go, trust and enjoy who you are and your life.
I am beyond honoured and grateful to the lovely Happiness + Well Being mag for taking the time to interview me. It’s been an absolute pleasure from beginning to end, and the process of answering their heart provoking questions has been an opportunity for me to reflect on my life, and how grateful I am for all that I’ve experienced.
For the very small price of $2.99 (cost of a cup of coffee), you will gain an abundance of positive information and reinforcement, that will lead you on a path overflowing with joy, peace and love.
My family and I spent a playful afternoon recently exploring a new little beach along the WA coastline. It was so lovely and quiet, the breeze ever so gentle, waves repeatedly kissing the shoreline with such grace. I watched my kids playing in the waves, I felt their joy, and all my daily stress melted into oblivion. We snapped some photos as I walked along the long stretch of beach, dressed head to toe in my favourite Hendrix + Harlow. I was filled to the brim, overflowing with joy, radiating from my being. Caught in a bubble, time escaped me, there was just my beloved family and I and the ocean. Of all our beach encounters, this one was like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from.
“Magic is everywhere you look once you can see it within yourself. We are all magic”
I felt like reminding myself today of the magic that exists within us all. I hope these simple words resonate with some of you and remind you of the unique beauty that you are.
Here is a collection of photos taken one beautiful morning styling some divine handmade gems from At Thursday. I love to adorn myself in precious healing talismans from the earth – opals, turquoise and rainbow moonstone, all set in the most beautifully crafted silver. They serve as little reminders that we are all magical. If you are not feeling it today, take some time to quiet your mind, access one of your favourite memories of nature, where there was no doubt in your mind that magic exists – a rainbow, a sunset, a waterfall, a crystal cave or thunderstorm perhaps. One of those moments where the energy is palpable, and your body zings with such heightened glee. You are content to simply watch in awe as mother nature performs her miracles. This is you. What you see is a mirror of all your own beauty. Give yourself a big hug and a moment of complete and utter loving acceptance and feel the magic that you are.
“The more you consistently choose loving, appreciative thoughts, the more your aura radiates out that energy of love and appreciation. Then, you truly uplift – what you focus upon shines and your mere presence illuminates.” Karen Whitaker
I’m feeling so very thankful today for the beautiful life I have to live. That each day I get to live my dreams and create something beautiful. Each breath I take is filled with love, filled with gratitude, for the amazing souls that I get to share this life with. My children, my beloved husband, my dear friends and my beautiful soul family following and sharing in my journey here on my blog. Each day I am uplifted by the love I feel for you all. I’m bursting with passion at the mere thought of the immense creative possibilities that await me.
I’d love to hear what fills your heart with love…what are you all grateful for today?
I was lucky enough to shoot this summery holiday look at the beautiful Villa Seriska Rosita residence in Bali. My backdrop was this exquisite infinity pool and the ocean and sky for miles. Blue upon blue upon blue. It’s the colour of my dreams. It’s healing and calming and reminds me of an endless summer of love. Adorned in bright silver with touches of magical turquoise by Nicole Fendel Jewellery, which is proving to be one of my favourites amongst my growing collection. Paired with this super playful and cute playsuit from Sea Dreamer, it took this look from bohochic to boholuxe. This has definitely become my happy outfit and one I’m wearing over and over again this summer.
Sending you some cool calming, blue healing, love vibes wherever you are in the world today.
Bali has to be one of my top favourite places to holiday. It’s not just the fact that it’s an island paradise with beautiful beaches, sunsets, tropical foods and scents, it’s the service and smiles that come with it that make it the holiday of a lifetime. Our recent family adventures took us first to Sanur and then to the magical Klungkung. I’m so happy to have explored different parts of Bali, both so very beautiful and unique in their own right. We stayed at 2 magnificent villas run by Villa Seriska, and I now understand why they have been voted Number #1 on Trip Advisor and won the Certificate of Excellence in 2013 and 2014. The villas, the details, the luxury, and above all the hospitality and services were faultless. As a couple of hard working parents in great need of some pampering and relaxation, we certainly received more than we could have expected. And all with a smile and gratitude.
We have been blessed to have experienced our fair share of luxury holidays around the world, but Bali always seems to come out on top. It’s all in the details. At Villa Seriska we had our own personal chef to cook us whatever we liked, catering to our own special needs and dietary requirements. A driver to take us anywhere we fancied, though we didn’t feel like leaving at all, as it was just too beautiful in our villa :) We had a wonderful manager to attend to any needs that arose…and travelling with children there are usually quite a few ;) It surely helps to make a holiday with your kids an actual holiday when you have so much help. Our lovely housekeepers were so wonderful with the children and even offered to help us with babysitting when we needed. My children fell in love with them and couldn’t wait to see them each day. They were so happy, and so were we. My wonderful husband, Bobby and I, had time to really connect. Beach walks, watching the sunset whilst talking about our dreams and aspirations and sweet kisses under the gazebo. It was all so very magical.
Since I have so many beautiful pictures from our family vacation I’d love to share, I’m going to firstly share with you our experiences in Sanur, and in my next post you’ll get to see a whole other side of beautiful Bali. Sanur is seriously the perfect place to stay in Bali if you want a little luxury, beach, shopping and dining without it being too crowded. It is so much quieter than Kuta (in the best possible way) though there is still so much to do right at your doorstep. Upon stepping out of our villa we had restaurants, bars, boutiques, beach markets and of course the beach with a spectacular view of Lembongan Island and Mt. Agung. Our 4 bedroom villa, perfect for families and groups of friends, was decked out in all kinds of detailed design perfection. Everywhere I looked I was amazed by something beautiful. The woodwork, the towel designs, the flowers, the bathrooms….it was all so divine. The gazebo, spa and pool area were definitely the best and thoroughly utilised by us all each day and night. My children were obsessed with feeding the koi fish, cannon balling off the gazebo into the pool, and the chef’s amazing food!
We can’t thank owners Audrey and Nilesh, and the beautiful staff of Villa Seriska enough for their generous hospitality and very genuine caring. It’s so refreshing and an absolute joy to stay somewhere like this. They really set themselves apart by their high standards.
I hope you enjoy these photos of our holiday and be sure to check out Villa Seriska Sanur Satu for your next Bali holiday.
I’m always dreaming of water the colour of turquoise, sand as white as snow, and to walk upon the shore and watch the waves gently roll into greet it over and over again. It’s my bliss that inspires my creativity and grounds me from the crazy, busy, technological, high stress life that we lead. I feel immensely blessed I moved to WA, where I get to experience a little of this holiday vibe every single day.
Even still there is a definite yearning within me to roam into the wild, chase waterfalls, hike mountains and explore the earth and all her hidden treasures. It’s been many years since I’ve done this. I miss all the long road trips exploring hot springs, national parks, camping under the stars by ancient trees, bathing naked in icy glacial waters, cooking food over the fire, travelling anywhere on a whim and probably the best part – connecting with amazing, inspiring people along the way. I yearn for more exploration and I’m working on releasing myself from any self imposed boundaries that have been getting in the way. Being a parent comes with such great responsibility, and we can often feel so much fear for the safety of our children, and even limit our very existence. I’m discovering as I get a little older and wiser, the more I trust in the process of life, the more I am able to really enjoy travelling with my kids. It’s so wonderful to connect with your child’s unique way of perceiving the world. They see all the beauty around us, all the magic. They help us to see our world in the most joyful way. I’m very excited for new adventures with my family, and to share my love of exploration with them. Next stop – beautiful Bali!
I’ve been asked a lot recently from many of you amazing souls following and sharing in my journey about how I found a life of love. I want to share a little of my journey with you all in the hopes that I can inspire you to rediscover your beauty and the shining light of love that you all are.
Firstly, I think that we generally only start to question what is going on when things are not so great. It is these low experiences in our lives that act as the catalysts for transformation. I look back now with pure gratitude for the pain and traumas I have been through in my life. I would not have strived for a life of love without them.
My real low was around 7 years ago, when I experienced complications with my second pregnancy. It all began one night, around 11 weeks in, when I woke up haemorrhaging. I started having contractions, went into shock, and realised that I was losing my child. I was rushed to hospital to discover my little boy was still alive. For the next 27 weeks of my pregnancy I was in and out of hospital, the doctors continuously trying to prevent an early labour. I had to learn to cope with the imminent threat of losing him with no certainty or assurances. I was told the odds were not in my favour, and to prepare myself for the most painful of possibilities. That one hope, that I might make it to term, however dim it was back then, was the light that helped me get through. The painful thoughts of ‘what if’ were so excruciating while I felt my little boy kicking around in my belly. I inevitably pulled myself inwards and focused intently on the beauty of each moment we had together and that he would be ok. I could no longer focus on my painful feelings and give rise to them as they didn’t serve any other purpose than to cause me immense suffering. They weren’t real in that moment, they were just possibilities of an unknown future. I decided (stubbornly) we were going to get through it and that I would endeavour to enjoy the beautiful connection between mother and child regardless of the physical pain I was in. We would make this journey together and hope for the best. These thoughts brought me peace and the ability to find some joy in a pregnancy full of complication. I don’t think any other life experience has taught me more about mind control than this. Living with this for 27 weeks, bed bound each day, bleeding and contracting, reminded how fragile this situation was, yet striving for strength by surrendering to the vulnerability and uncertainty, whilst trying to maintain a positive outlook, was the biggest challenge of my life. I’m happy to say we made it in the end. We managed against medical odds to get to 38 weeks and my beautiful son is now 6 years old.
This experience changed me in many ways. My ability to let go of stressful ‘what if’ thoughts is much easier. I can focus on the beauty of life amidst chaos, and I discovered that the more you focus on the good stuff, and not the bad stuff, the more the bad stuff will actually lose it’s power and start to disappear from your life. Whatever you spend your time thinking about will become your life. So think beautiful thoughts, kind thoughts, grateful thoughts, loving thoughts, joyful thoughts. And when life throws you a curveball, I hope that you can remember at some point to be easy on yourself, and find that light and love within that allows you to move through it with grace and ease.
