“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair” Khalil Gibran
Nature was conjuring all kinds of magical invisible paintings with her windy paintbrush on this divine beach day. Whether it’s stormy, sunny, hot, cold or windy, I love and treasure the beach. I love to feel my bare feet hit the sand, and though I’d prefer it to be warm and calm, I’ll take any moment I can to have that connection with nature.
I’m seriously dying over all the coachella pics and amazingness that I’m seeing on social media atm. It’s sooooo good! And sooooo inspiring! I keep telling myself next year! Here’s hoping next year I make it a reality and stop talking about it haha! I can only imagine how incredible it would be wandering the desert, dancing up a storm to my favourite tunes, and styling up a bunch of inspirational outfits! Right up my alley. So next year, who’s in!?!?
Here’s a little festival outfit inspo featuring some turquoise amazingness from one of my favourites At Thursday, a bunch of labels I love from my divine sistar Turquoise Lane, the most perfect bag ever from gorgeous soul Diamond Moss + some festival must haves from my online jewellery store.
This post is dedicated to the loves in my life – my husband Bobby and our precious children, Jade and Jacob. They are my everything. My world. My heart.
Today I would like to share with them a little love letter to let them all know how grateful I am for their presence in my life.
To my dearest family,
Thank you for being my teachers, for bringing me insights into myself. For the way you can reach into the very depths of my heart, filling it with love and joy. I’m so grateful to wake each day knowing you are all there to greet me…with morning hugs, beaming smiles that fill the room with love and light, a contagious enthusiasm that reminds me of the magic of life.
My sweet angel Jade, you are so full of compassion and kindness for others and all those little acts of love never go unnoticed. Those little out of the blue hugs, “I love yous” and gifts you make me are the highlight of my day. You may not realise this, but each time you bring me a cup of tea with that gorgeous smile, so full of happiness, you warm my heart and make my day so special. It’s one of the sweetest and kindest gestures and I’m so grateful.
My darling Jacob, your curiosity for life and vivid view of the world reminds me to slow down and see all the beauty that surrounds us. You help me see the world with new eyes, which makes me feel so light and peaceful. Thank you for those ever so gentle morning hugs and kisses, especially when I’m still half asleep. It’s the most beautiful way to wake up each day. You absolutely melt my heart.
My dearest love Bobby. There are quite possibly not even enough words to describe the kind of love and gratitude I feel for you and all that you do for me and our family. You hold us all with your huge heart and unconditional love. Thank you for always looking out for me, having my back, supporting my passions, and picking me up over and over again. I love you with all of my heart and soul.
Love always and forever, your Helena xx
A big thanks to the beautiful Alice Or Jewellery for customising and creating 3 very special diamond rings for me to represent my unconditional love for my family. These divine rings are a daily reminder to me that nothing in this world matters more to me than my family.
I’m always dreaming of water the colour of turquoise, sand as white as snow, and to walk upon the shore and watch the waves gently roll into greet it over and over again. It’s my bliss that inspires my creativity and grounds me from the crazy, busy, technological, high stress life that we lead. I feel immensely blessed I moved to WA, where I get to experience a little of this holiday vibe every single day.
Even still there is a definite yearning within me to roam into the wild, chase waterfalls, hike mountains and explore the earth and all her hidden treasures. It’s been many years since I’ve done this. I miss all the long road trips exploring hot springs, national parks, camping under the stars by ancient trees, bathing naked in icy glacial waters, cooking food over the fire, travelling anywhere on a whim and probably the best part – connecting with amazing, inspiring people along the way. I yearn for more exploration and I’m working on releasing myself from any self imposed boundaries that have been getting in the way. Being a parent comes with such great responsibility, and we can often feel so much fear for the safety of our children, and even limit our very existence. I’m discovering as I get a little older and wiser, the more I trust in the process of life, the more I am able to really enjoy travelling with my kids. It’s so wonderful to connect with your child’s unique way of perceiving the world. They see all the beauty around us, all the magic. They help us to see our world in the most joyful way. I’m very excited for new adventures with my family, and to share my love of exploration with them. Next stop – beautiful Bali!
I leapt into holiday mode a little earlier this year and took off down south to Bunker Bay a couple of weeks ago. On the way we stopped off at the divine Milc Homewares in the heart of Dunsborough to check out their amazing store. It was so refreshing to see so many labels I love all in the one place. It’s such a beautiful store run by a beautiful inspiring woman.
If you are lucky enough to live down that way, or are headed down for the holidays, show some local love and check out Milc. And for those who are far away, head to www.milchomewares.com for a great collection of clothing and accessories. You’ll find some of my absolute favourites like Spell and Free people and one of my new faves Bassike. These Bassike organic cotton shorts I’m wearing in these pics are the most comfortable and versatile shorts I own. So many styling options!!!
Hope you all have the most amazing holidays ever! I’m so excited for some down time with my family, summer sunsets at the beach and lazy days by the pool.
When everything around you encourages you to step up your pace, it’s more important than ever to remind yourself to move at your own pace. Stay grounded and focused on caring for yourself, by only doing what you can. And know that what you do…is always enough. I feel so much peace wash over me simply when I say the words “I am enough”
I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful ride as the holiday season inches closer. Be easy on yourself if you are already feeling burnt out. There is no need to be more than you are. Because you are already more than enough. You are everything!
We are all round just celebrating life this week! I just got the all clear from my doctor (no more cancer), and then I found out I won the Free People blog love award for Trendsetter. It was really one amazing thing after another this week.
But more than anything I’m celebrating that each and every day I get to live my creative dreams that bring me so much joy. I’m so overwhelmingly grateful for this awesome life and all the beautiful souls I get to share it with! I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!
And my dearest beloved husband, Bobby Bense, who has never wavered in his unconditional love for me, has been my everything this past month. It’s truly those rough and challenging times that test the resolve of your marriage. I couldn’t be more in love and more connected to this man…who also happens to be the incredible photographer that takes all my photos. And of course my gorgeous little children, reminding me each and every day about presence, joy and love. To see the magic in the mundane. To embrace vulnerability and live each moment as it comes.
I feel so blessed for this recent health crisis. However scary and challenging it was, it led me to a deeper expansion of my heart and brought the most invaluable insights that have changed me forever.
Count your blessings every day lovelies. There is always something to be grateful for. Find the sparkle wherever you can and focus on that. It will lead you to more love and joy than you can imagine.
November in Perth is probably the windiest time of year here, especially those late afternoons anywhere along the coast. And I’ve just recently learnt we live in the 3rd windiest city in the world! For this reason, I’ve been trading in my sunset beach sessions lately for sunrises. And I’m not really a morning person, or at least I thought I wasn’t. Until, I actually found myself on that beach, so early in the morning. As my feet touched the sand, I felt a pulse of energy awaken me. And as the sun rose anew, I could feel the endless possibilities it brought with it. I was immersed in daydreams and imagining all kinds of wonder for my day. I happily shimmied along the shoreline watching the sun rise higher and become brighter with each passing moment. Each moment brought further awakening and I am definitely rethinking that morning person thing ;)
I was lucky enough to wear this divine Harriet Jane Sunrise silk dress on this very bright and early morning. This beautiful designer, based in Byron Bay, takes some breathtaking photos of nature and then takes it to the next level and combines these with her stunning designs to produce wearable art. Each design is made with recycled, organic or natural fabrics with state of the art digital printing technology to produce an exquisite piece of consciously made clothing. Not only am I in love with her pieces, I love that she celebrates nature through this creative process, bringing us all the beauty she captures, and inspiring us to take care of our precious earth.
Wherever you may be, I hope you all have time to experience the magic of the rising sun. I assure you it will awaken and renew your energy :)
“The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself.” – Michel de Montaigne
As much as I love to be around people and their inspiring energies, I also deeply yearn for solitude….And perhaps it’s in part my Finnish heritage, though I think it’s more than that….it’s that time I get to refuel, to simply be and go deeper within, to reflect and create and imagine from a place of complete stillness.
These photos were taken on a quiet still morning in Bali at the magical Kubu beach at Ayana Resort. There wasn’t a soul in sight as I walked along the beach allowing my connection to the earth to centre and rejuvenate my being. I feel so thankful to know myself, to understand with love and compassion the needs I have, and to take action to care for them. Every single act of self love builds my energy stores and sets my vibration soaring to a place where only complete wellness can exist. For those suffering from illness of any sort, I urge you to step out in nature, somewhere peaceful, somewhere still, where it’s just you and the elements. Allow this space and experience to refuel your being and bring healing to every cell in your body.
